Ongoing learning, politics and community responsibility
This section is a place for me to contextualise myself and my practice, and engage in the socio-political space of therapy.

Positionality
As part of any therapeutic practice and my role in facilitating therapeutic spaces that are anti-oppressive, community-centered and rooted in a trauma informed care it is important that I am in the constant flow of unlearning, relearning and learning how to be in this world. Where I’m unravelling behaviors, ideologies and unconscious ways that can cause harm to others. For me this has been largely rooted in anti-racism activism, and has been anything but linear, an expanding process of awareness and intersectional practices of embodying anti-oppressive ways.
Ongoing training
I have attended Dr. Isha Mckenzie Maviniga’s Black Empathic Approach training, and share this as an acknowledgement of the ongoing self-reflection I do as a cis-white counselor from the global north working to be anti-oppressive in my practice. I understand that my positionality and politics continue to shape my working relationships with my clients.
Finally, to expand my practice and repertoire of tools, I am engaging in somatic training through Staci Hanie’s Politics of Trauma course. I am on a continuous journey of development exploring the tools, resources as well as my own intuitive knowledge around body and mind wellbeing.

Areas of interest
I’m currently most drawn to the following themes: relationships, shame, identity, sex, faith and men's issues.

I'm also interested in working with people exploring how the space of being in a state of joy, pleasure and lightness faciliate growth and change.
